Historical recipes
There are a number of local specialities in Saint-Germain, some of which are concocted from ancestral recipes. Come and hear the stories about potato puffs, Béarnaise sauce and Saint-Germain soup.
You can also visit one of the local cheesemakers’, patisseries or chocolate shops which include some age-old retail names, like Grandin and Hardy, and taste the “Debussy” or “Saint-Germain” cakes and cheeses, or a “pavé d’or” or “palet Louis XIV” from the Pascal Le Gac chocolate shop.
If you have the opportunity to come and meet us at the Tourist Office, you’ll find these famous chocolate palets alongside other products from Saint-Germain and the surrounding area! We will also be pleased to offer you a booklet on gastronomic history.
