Discover the cradle of Impressionism! From the village of Louveciennes, where Pissarro and Renoir lived, to the Seine riverbank, admire the landscapes that inspired so many painters of the 19th century.
Morning:
- Louveciennes village.
Louveciennes stands on a wonderful location and has retained the appearance of a village huddled around its bell tower. With paintboxes over their shoulders and easels set up outside, the four great impressionist painters, Monet, Pissarro, Sisley and Renoir, painted Louveciennes many times. You will follow the "Chemin des Impressionnistes", which features reproductions of some of their paintings along the trail.
Lunch
Afternoon
- A walk along the Seine riverbank at Chatou or Croissy-sur-Seine
The artists loved the great outdoors and were fascinated by the reflections of light on the water. They walked these banks and their memory is still very much alive.
A tour of the Musée Fournaise in Chatou or the Musée de la Grenouillère at Croissy-sur-Seine reveals the history of the famous "guinguette" open-air cafés that became the centre of festivities thanks to artists and boaters.
