Entered into history in the seventh century, Marly-le-Roi owes notoriety to Louis XIV who chose this site to build his country residence.
In the nineteenth century, Alfred Sisley, Victorian Sardou, Artistide Maillol and Alexandre Dumas Jr. came there to seek calm and inspiration. Today the village of Marly, with its picturesque narrow streets lined of old houses and its church, continues to charm the visitor.
