Liais, limestone from quarries, allowed, among other things, the construction of the basilica of Saint-Denis. Carrières-sur-Seine was truly founded in the 12th century with Suger, abbot of Saint-Denis and principal adviser to King Louis XI le Gros. Its inhabitants adapt to the course of history: they are stonemasons, winegrowers or producers of button mushrooms. The guided tour will take you from the banks of the Seine to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, passing through the troglodyte houses.
