The Pavillon de la Muette is a remarkable example of the architecture of the French 'chasses royales' (royal hunts) of the late 17th century and stands in the middle of the Forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye at the intersection of paths well trodden by walkers.
Built on the plans of Ange Jacques Gabriel, it was Louis XIV's hunting lodge at Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
A tour of the Pavillon de la Muette enables you to see the salon ouest on the main floor, the grand salon octogonal nord and the two large basement kitchens.
All proceeds from ticket sales are allocated to restoration work.
The site is open to the public on several days during the summer; the rest of the year, it may be possible to organise group visits (minimum of 10 people) on request on certain weekends, at 11am or 3pm only.
