Once you've taken a walk in this conservation area on the banks of the Seine, you'll know everything there is to know about pochards and whitethroats!
But what is it? Situated on the banks of the Seine, near the groundwater recharge basins, the Coulée Verte is a landscaped site that occasionally provides free guided tours. On your visit, you will follow an educational trail designed to raise environmental awareness. With help from ornithologists, you will have the chance to spot more than 50 species of birds, including the pollard and whitethroat!
In 2005, professionals identified more than 52 bird species! Walkers can observe them from wooden hides.
You will then follow a botanical trail with vegetation adapted to the wildlife present here.
When the Coulée Verte was created, a dozen plant species, corresponding to the biotopes of the birds recorded here, were introduced.
This unspoiled landscape is a sensitive site that supplies about 40,000 people in the Île-de-France with drinking water. It's hard to believe but the water that comes from the Seine and feeds the five basins here is beautifully clear.
