The Royal Apothecary - Saint Germain Boucles de Seine
The Royal Apothecary
The former apothecary of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye hospital is now kept in the Henri IV building, within the Jardin des Arts, next to the Multimedia Library and the Alexandre Dumas Theater.
It evokes medicine under Louis XIV with a collection of earthenware pots decorated with blue patterns, glass jars and hand-decorated medicinal plant boxes. All these objects date from the 17th and 18th centuries and come from the Hôtel-Dieu, the Charité and the General Hospital founded in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in the 17th century.
